Travel Journals

Need the perfect Travel Journal for your next trip? Or how about a Christmas gift for your BFF?

Do you remember where you had a perfect cappuccino and almond croissant, sitting at a bistro table in the morning sun while enveloped by the silky sounds of Italian?

Those tiny details define a trip and you’re convinced you’ll remember each one. I know. Because as a writer and travel blogger, I’m convinced I’ve memorized them, too. But a few weeks at home and they start to fade.

World War II Veterans at Pearl Harbor, 75th Anniversary

Gary Sinise was the Grand Marshall for the parade on Oahu for the 75th commemorative events of Pearl Harbor. He gave a brief and humble speech. One of the reasons he created his foundation was that in addition to his dad, he had two uncles in the military. If you want to understand more about the vast reach of this foundation (nine different programs!), please check out the foundation’s site.

Experiencing the Pearl Harbor Museum and The Arizona Memorial

The Pearl Harbor Museum takes at least two hours to go through—three if you want to be very thorough and read everything. You can rent headsets that have additional information about specific displays. It’s a good idea for your first visit. The, “If you had been on O’ahu, these faces may have been familiar,” display immediately makes you think of the people on that day.

Picnicking on top of the world Montana-style

When my parents would come to visit Seester and me during the summers I lived in Red Lodge, dad and I would always take a morning and drive to Cooke City for lunch. Up over the Beartooth Pass we’d go, stopping willy nilly for photo opps and simple moments of enjoying each other’s company. You’d have loved this picnic, Dad.

Doors Open Pittsburgh is a fantastic way to see the Steel City’s historic buildings from the inside out as well as structures built as part of the new tech/financial/medical city that keeps progressing in remaking itself. It’s great fun to be able to access places that you normally cannot get into unless you work there.
